YOUTH FOOTBALL: Weekend round-up

By Steve Sharman:

Community development officer and coach Lyndon Wain rounds up all the action from the club’s youth section across the weekend, over the 4th/5th November.

Reduced action this week due to half term although those that did play were all involved in some excellent games.
Our U12 greens came out on top in a ten goal thriller to go top of the league, while the U14s ran out 4-1 winners at home to Redgate with a hat trick from Matty with an excellent performance.
The U17s were narrowly beaten by Newcastle Town in the Sentinel Cup and were certainly unlucky not to go through to the next round. TheU18s were big winners away at Biddulph and bearing in mind the group are mostly under 17s so the future is very bright.
Generally the interest in our junior sides continues to grow with young local footballers asking to or joining our club daily. The community sessions on Saturdays are growing plus the work we are doing to strengthen our relationships with local schools is also paying dividends.
We remain totally committed to developing or coaching base so therefore we would continue to invite motivated coaches to get in touch and join our journey. If you are interested, please email Lyndon on
