Defender Joel Stair believes this weekend’s FA Cup game against Nuneaton Town is the perfect opportunity for the team to put their recent league form behind them.
The Dabbers suffered their third loss in a row on Tuesday losing 3-0 at Stafford and Stair insists the cup game comes at the perfect time.
He said: “We’re looking for a big reaction from the lads. The last three games have not been good enough and returning to cup action gives us a chance to forget our league form.
“The lads should be up for it knowing we’re just two games away from the first round.
“I think its a great change of pace in this tournament. The further you go in the competition, the greater the chance of drawing a bigger side and that’s what the lads want.”
However, to draw those big teams, the challenge of Nuneaton Town stands in the way. For Joel, being one of the senior and more experienced players in the squad means being a role model for the younger lads and reminding them to take it one game at a time.
“Because we’re a young side, the senior members of the team are the more vocal ones.
“We have to help the younger lads as much as possible.”
Nuneaton who play in the Conference North have had mixed form of late, and the challenge of facing a team in a higher league is one that may Joel thinks will be good experience for the lads.
“It’s always a good experience playing against higher-tiered opposition and normally brings the best out of you as a player. We can play with no pressure and hopefully rise to the occasion.”
Nuneaton will be a tough test for Nantwich, and we need as many fans as we can at the Weaver Stadium – tickets are priced at £10 for Adults, £7 for Concessions and £3 for under 16s.« Back to all news
