Nantwich Town can confirm that former Liverpool player and coach Phil Thompson will be headlining the club’s Sports Dinner in May.
The dinner will take place at the Weaver on Thursday 3rd May – 7pm with the former Reds’ defender speaking at the event which will also include a performance from comedian Jimmy Carrol.
Thompson was a cultured defender in the dominant Liverpool team of the 1970s and 1980s. During this time, he also represented the England national football team on 37 occasions. After retiring as a player, he later served Liverpool as a coach.
Making well over 400 appearances for the Merseyside club, Thompson won a number of major trophies including several First Division League titles and three European Cups.
He is now a well known member of the panel on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday and is a much sought after speaker on the after dinner speaking circuit.
In addition to Thompson comedian Jimmy Carrol is one of Yorkshire’s most in-demand comedians, and is somewhat of an institution in his home town of Sheffield as he currently works for BBC Radio Sheffield.
The event includes a three course dinner and a fantastic charity auction and raffle.
These events usually sell out fast, so we would advise fans to book early, so as to avoid disappointment. Tickets for the evening are priced individually at £39.95 and there are only a limited number available.
