Dabbers forward Steve Jones ended the Star Sixes tournament as joint top goalscorer with five goals, sharing the prize with England and former Chelsea winger Joe Cole.
Jones was representing his country Northern Ireland in the event which happened over the weekend at The Hydro Arena in Glasgow. He netted goals against Scotland (2), England and Wales (2).
Despite his side finishing fifth overall, Jones thoroughly enjoyed his experience: “I am very very proud to get top scorer and it’s something I didn’t expect.
“The tournament has been very tough and it’s been a demanding few days but I’ve enjoyed every minute. Playing against legends such as Mendieta, Petrov and Pires etc has been unbelievable.”
It was England who claimed the winners spot as they overcame a Rest of the World side in a tightly contested final winning 3-2 thanks to two goals from captain Michael Owen.
