Rod McDonald has become the latest new signing to Join Nantwich Town, the left sided defensive player was briefly on loan at the club from Oldham last season. Rod started his career at Stoke City as an apprentice. He moved to Oldham two years later as a full time pro. While with Oldham, he was at Nantwich on loan, which is where then Colwyn Bay manager Dave Challinor became aware of him and signed him prior to the 2011/12 season.
Dabbers Boss Jimmy Quinn said “Obviously with Matt Lowe being injured we have had to reorganise our defence and even before this i was concerned that we needed more depth and competition for places in this area and Rod is a young player who i have always admired and who i believe has great potential and will certainly be a value addition to the squad and as he is a local lad as well, when the opportunity came to sign him, i jumped at the chance”.
The Club is currently awaiting international clearance from the Welsh FA, which will hopefully arrive in time for him to go straight into the squad for Saturdays away trip to Whitby.« Back to all news
