About

Founded in 1884, Nantwich Town Football Club celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2009. The club has its roots in the community and in 2002 became one of the first football clubs in the country to achieve the prestigious FA Charter Standard Community Club award in recognition of the club’s role in developing youth football in the area.

Nantwich Town FC Ltd, the company formed in 2010, now has the commercial benefit of a 125 year lease of the new £4m Weaver Stadium at a peppercorn rent with the freehold being held in Trust.

The company is now at a significant point in its development both on and off the pitch. A company limited by guarantee, it is a not-for-profit organisation which has ambitions and plans to build the club into a larger and more successful organisation for the benefit of the local community.

Nantwich Town Football Club has a long and proud football history and tradition.

In 1982, with almost 100 years of playing football in the town, Nantwich became a founder member of the North West Counties Football League.

In 2004 former Crewe, Burnley and Barnsley defender Steve Davis was appointed as Head Coach and has proved to be the most successful manager in the club’s history. Davis led Nantwich to FA Vase glory in 2005/06 when the Dabbers beat Hillingdon Borough 3-1 in the Final at Birmingham City’s St Andrews stadium.

In 2006/7 Nantwich finished third and secured promotion to Evo-Stik League Division One (South). Along, the way, Nantwich recorded their highest post-war league attendance (1536) when FC United of Manchester came to town. To sign off the home campaign, a crowd of 1071 said farewell to their 123 year old Jackson Avenue ground when Nantwich crushed Squires Gate 5-2 on 28 April 2007.

25 years after being founder members of the North West Counties League, Nantwich started the 2007/08 season in its brand new £4m Weaver Stadium in Nantwich. And, again Nantwich achieved success in the 2007/2008 play-offs, culminating with promotion to the Evo-Stik Premier League for the 2008/2009 season. Nantwich Town Football Club is local success story.
