Nantwich Town Player of the Season Jonny Brain also clocked up a half-century of appearances for the Dabbers in his first season with the club. The former Port Vale and Macclesfield shot stopper played in all but three of Nantwich’s 53 games in the 2011/12 campaign – more starts than any other player.
Top scorer Michael Lennon actually made one more appearance (51) but nine of these were from the bench. The club’s longest serving player, “Lenny” has now made 202 appearances (184 starts + 18 as sub) for Nantwich in league and cup since joining from Kidsgrove Athletic in the 2008 close season, netting an impressive 106 goals.
The ever-dependable Matt Lowe made 49 starts whilst Mat Bailey, Sean Cooke, Chris Flynn and Niall Maguire all chalked up more than 40 appearances.
Altogether 40 players appeared for Nantwich during the season and a summary of appearances and goals for 2011/12 (and the previous four seasons) can be found on the club history website www.ProudToBeTheDabbers.co.uk (follow the links).
